Health Our Way Honouring Women's Business in Clinical Care
Dr Caroline Harvey has spent four decades in general practice and sexual and reproductive health, working across Sydney, Cairns and Brisbane. Since 2014 she has been Senior GP in Sexual and Reproductive Health at the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health, and as part of that role she spends two days a month with the MATSICHS Endometriosis and Persistent Pelvic Pain Clinic.
Annette Houston is a Kamilaroy woman from the North West Slopes of New South Wales. She grew up in a small country town, moved to Sydney to train as a nurse in the early nineties, and stepped into primary health care seventeen years ago — almost fourteen of those years with IUIH. She is an accredited cervical screening and Implanon provider and supervises other nurses learning those skills. She describes walking beside her clients as their nurse wayfinder on the pelvic pain journey as a genuine privilege.
Jayde Woon is a proud Wiradjuri woman with heart connections to Ngunnawal Country and Wurundjeri Country, and she also proudly carries Chinese heritage — both sides of her family shaping a deep appreciation for family, community, culture and collective care. Her work in First Nations health comes from a deep knowing of the strength, wisdom and resilience of her people, and a commitment to creating environments where people feel safe, valued and empowered to lead.
