The Pelvic Pain Futures Fund will help PPFA reach young people earlier through PPEP Talk® and community education, so they can recognise pain, seek support and find the right care sooner. We deliver education in schools through PPEP Talk®, build knowledge among health professionals, share trusted information with communities and advocate for better recognition of pelvic pain across Australia.

Pelvic pain is common. Being believed should not be rare.

For many people, pelvic pain starts in adolescence. It might be severe period pain, pain that continues outside a period, or pain when they use the toilet. It can also be the kind of pain that gets in the way of an ordinary day.

Too often, a young person is told by an adult, a doctor or a teacher to push through it.

PPFA's national data shows that more than half of Australian school students assigned female at birth experience regular severe period pain. Almost one in four regularly miss school or work because of period or pelvic pain.

Pain should never be brushed off as a normal part of growing up when it means missing class, sitting out of sport, calling in sick to work or cancelling plans with friends.

Recognising that pain is not normal matters. It can be the first step towards asking questions, seeking help and finding the right care.
