The opportunity will focus on innovative, translational research that drives the development of novel approaches to pelvic pain. Projects will be chosen based on their clear potential to advance understanding, improve care, or meaningfully change outcomes.

Cross disciplinary innovation will be strongly encouraged.

The Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia’s Translational Innovation Research Fund is now open for Expressions of Interest.

Expressions of Interest are open from 8 May 2026 and will close on 8 June 2026.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their EOI by 15 June 2026. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to submit a full application, due by Monday 3 August 2026 at 8:00am AEST.

Successful recipients will be announced at the PPFA Annual Seminar on 22 August 2026.

From 2027 onwards, the Fund will open for Expressions of Interest each May during Pelvic Pain Awareness Month. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application in early July, with final announcements made at the PPFA Annual Seminar.

Donations to the Research Fund are welcome, including donations directed towards research into specific pelvic pain conditions.

The Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia will treat information provided by the applicant as confidential information if all the following is satisfied:

the information is clearly identified as confidential and you explain why it should be treated as confidential;
the information is of a confidential nature (e.g. commercially sensitive); and
the information is provided with the understanding that it will stay confidential.

Information that is or becomes public knowledge (other than by breach of any confidentiality obligations) will not be considered to be confidential information.

Disclosure of information (including confidential information)

Any information contained in, or relating to, an application, including information identified by an applicant as confidential information for the purposes of applying for funding under the PPFA Translational Research Grant program, may be disclosed by the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia:

to PPFA employees, advisers or third parties in order to manage and assess the PPFA Grant program;
in response to a request by a House or Committee of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia or South Australia;
where information is authorised or required by law to be disclosed; and
where the information is already in the public domain.
