Periods, pain and endometriosis prevalence and impact from the FY 2022-23

The statistics presented across these factsheets are drawn from survey data collected as part of Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia PPEP Talk® Government reporting for the 2022–2023 financial year. During this period, 23,258 girls and students assigned female at birth participated in the program.

This data highlights the high prevalence and significant impact of period and pelvic pain on students’ health, wellbeing and education, as well as persistent gaps in awareness of conditions such as endometriosis. It also demonstrates the value of school-based education as an early intervention to support symptom recognition, appropriate help-seeking, and improved outcomes.
